Advertising.

Idea Generation.
We watched a program and basically, when they professionally came up with ideas by doing lots of research, thinking, mind maps, picture drawing, gathering lots of different ideas to choose a final one. They tend do come up with sayings like the McDonald's 'IM LOVING IT' quote.

Shock tactics.
In the programme we seen an advertisement for anorexia. It was shocking becuase it was giving out tips on how to hide the illness and saying things like 'you can never be too thin'. Also, at the end it shows it was all on anorexia websites and 'thin-speration'. Some poeple thought it was a good advert but most thought it was shocking and a bad idea, i personally thought it was a bad idea due to people in our days feeling the 'pressure to be perfect' and it could have made someone go anorexic with 'you can never be too thin' quote.

Is TV Dead?

How much time do you go online every day?
Roughly i would log into websites about 4-9 times a day depending on where i am through out that day. If i'm over a friends house i will use their internet a couple of times (taking turns) and then i'd go home and log on. Then i'd log out and  let someone use my laptop, then i'd get it before i go to bed an then i will log on again.
I spend most of my day using the internet. I use it for all sorts. I roughly spend about 12 hours a day on the internet. I use it for research, social networking sites, youtube (watching videos) and tumblr and things.

Why is BBCiPlayer so good?
I'd say it's so good because if you miss a programme (e.g. EastEnders) then you can always get it back up on catchup and it's there for when you want to watch it so there's no rush if you cannot watch it on the time it is on TV.

Why are social networking sites the way forward?
I'd say they are the way forward because people are able to share thoughts and pictures and chat to people without wasting mobile phone credit. It is easier to contact people and write on peoples walls on Facebook and going on cam to chat to each other. It is also the way forward because you are able to mail people in private where no one else is able to see what you're writing to each other in 'private mail'.

How much does the program say on average that teens go online a day?
The program says that on average, teenagers spend at least 2 hours on the internet a day.
I personally use way more time than that if i am honest.

How much time DID teens used to spend a week watching TV?
Teens used to spend at least 6hours a week watching TV. Apparently American teens watch more TV than they do go online! People go online to download series from TV whether its legal or not. If they want it, they'd get it.

Why has there been such a drop in audience figures between the 16-24 year olds?

Why does TV need the youth market?
Because advertisements need to try and get us teenagers to be more successful in the future and to know more things than what we know now.

Why are the 16-24  revolutionaries?

TEST SHOTS! EVALUATION- LUCY

Here is an over the shoulder shoot.
Here is my mini version of  a birds eye view. She was texting. LOL!
Here is a test shot of my sister putting the fairy on the christmas tree.
Here is an image of christmas decorations being put up.
Here is a birthday picture of my three year old sister.

My ideas were to go onto fashion photography but my plans changed and i done more emotive photography.

The reason why I didn't use any of these images was because i felt like i could have done better. I wasn't particularly happy with the out comes of these although i LOVE the one of my three year old sister! I just wanted to choose ONE final picture for my final piece. I am happy with the one i had edited and chosen. I wouldn't change it. I did try to do different angles of pictures in which went pretty well if you ask me :) These images are only a FEW of my test shots but out of the bunch i chose and edited the one below. It's my favourite!:D

Documentary photography Final piece – Lucy

For my final piece my original idea was to do a fashion photo. Ideas changed and it became more about the person and her emotions. The reason I made it black and white in Photoshop was to bring out the correct emotion that is being shown. I edited rain drops out of the image, changed brightness and contrast, made it black and white and used ‘spot healer’ to make the face a bit more smoother than what it was. The strength of this image is the emotion in it and the story behind it. It just shows a young girl picking at a bush but she looks very sad and a little bit bored... Different stories could be put into the story – maybe. The weakness would be not enough lighting and could have added a little bit of additional lighting so that the headpiece stood out a little bit more. This picture was my favourite one out of the bunch I had taken and that’s the reason why I am using this one for my final piece. It’s my favourite because it has more emotions and it’s just really nice! My model for my image was my sister Emma. Overall I am 80% happy with my final piece. If the lighting was changed, it would have been much better!

My film poster

We we're researching some films and then we had to make a poster of our previous films that we had already made during college times. My poster is from the video i made called 'The journey'. It is about a young girl that gets kidnapped, she gets out the room she got locked up in, she escapes down some stairs, beats up a person who tries to stop her from running and she manages to get outside. She thinks it's all over and that she's finally free. BUT SHE'S NOT!!! One of the kidnappers see her and beat her! She did NOT manage to escape in the end. 18+.

Film poster research

The three film posters i researchered were called Darkness falls- made in 2003 and is an American horror film, Ted- made in 2012 and is an American comedy film and Bridge to Tarabithia- made in 2007 and is a fantasy drama film.

Darkness falls is about a tooth fairy that kills children when they lose their last baby tooth. If you see her you're dead. She is not allowed in the light. She is only allowed to be in the darkness. It is a horror gore movie and i have seen the film, IT IS REALLY GOOD!!!!! I really like the graphics and the reason i like the film is because the woman in it (Caitlin Greene, 12 years later) asks Kyle to help her because her little brother goes through the same 'night terrors' with the tooth fairy as Kyle did when he was younger except everyone realises, it's not night terrors and the tooth fairy does actually kill people when they lose their last baby tooth, but she is unable to go in the light because her skin is sensitive to the light because it got burnt when she was alive, and people killed her and exposed her face to the light. The film is rated an 18's. The special effects are great, for example, when Kyle jumps from stair case to stair case along with a few other people trying to avoid the darkness and jumping into the lights as the tooth fairy makes them turn off one by one. The meaning behind the poster shows that it is going to be scary and dark and dull, it is aimed at adult entertainment. The poster looks doomy and gloomy. It looks very dull and a little bit plain. Everything looks so far in the distance so it looks as if some thing in the distance needs to be avoided, but thats not the case. The darkness is supposed to be avoided. If i am honest, i would not have used a plain poster like this, i would have made it more interesting and make people want to watch it more. Although, the film is excellent!

Ted is about a little boy getting a teddy for christmas and he wishes for the teddy to be alive and to be bestfriends for ever. The teddy (Ted) was alive, the boy and teddy grew up together, Ted and the man smoked illegal drugs and had alcohol. The mans marriage almost suffers because he is always around Ted, but Ted gets kidnapped by a man and a boy, they are strickt, the boy pulled Teds ear off for his bad language. In the end Ted dies, but he gets sewed back together and the mans wife wishes for him to be alive and he comes back!! It is an hilarious movie, one of my favourite comedy movies!!! Got to watch it! The special effects of Ted himself is great. To me, Ted looks realistic and the effects are awesome when Ted has a fight with Mark Wahlberg (the main character). It looks so real. Ted is rated a 15s film. The meaning behind the poster shows that it is a humorous film and it is aimed at teenagers and adult entertainment. Contains bad language. Not suitable for children! The poster looks very vibrant and you can tell it is comedy by the way the man and teddy bear are laughing and drinking alcohol. You don't see a teddy bear laughing and drinking these days... The poster is very bright and i think the colours in a poster change people's moods on how to feel about it. The poster shows the man and teddy in hysterics so it shows that it must be funny - and thats exactly what it is- HILARIOUS!

Bridge to Tarabithia is about a boy meeting a girl who recently moved next to him, they become bestfriends after having no friends and they explore around in the woods and they make up their own little world with their minds and they can see it all! In the end the girl dies becuase she was swinging accross the lake with the rope but the rope snappes and the weather was bad so the lake got a bit violent and she drowned. The boy feels alone and upset for a long time but then he remembers her from good memories. This fantasy drama film is really good and when i seen it i really liked it. The graphics and the special effects are amazing, for example, all of the fictional things such as giants with toe jam and more. It is a PG rating for family's and children. It is extraordinary. The best thing i like about the film is that the boy and girl has no friends so they become best of friends but i think it's really upsetting when she dies. The meaning behind the poster shows that it's very interesting but mysterious and it gets people wondering what the 2 people can see. They look stunned. It is aimed at children and family entertainment. The poster shows two children looking dramatically at something but it is not visible in the poster so it gets people wondering what it could be and thats what makes it look interesting to watch. It looks pretty dark and dull but at the same time theres light so it doesn't look as dull and horrific.

Lucy - final piece

For my final piece, My work is going to be inspired my Helmut Newtons work. His work is absolutely fantastic. I am not completely sure if i am going to do all my work black and white, but i might. Black and white photos are my favourite. For my final piece i'm using fashion. I LOVE FASHION!

Eagle eye cherry- save tonight

In my opinion, the video to Eagle eye cherry- save tonight is very interesting and different. The man in the video plays a lot of different parts such as innocent, criminal, homeless. The best bit about the video is how he is in lots of different places playing lots of different characters all at once.

Final piece, Lucy.

For my final piece in Lucy's lessons, I'm doing fashion documentary photography. I'm doing fashion because i love it and in our days people dress to express ans there's so many different styles going around in 2012. No one is wearing the same style. Everyone has their own unique fashion.

The photo above is one of the images i have already taken and edited. I love this picture. It's amazing and it reminds me of a 60's style. This picture is amazing!!

The waiting room

I worked with Jade, Katherine and Roxy for the waiting room video. For this video we planned for two girls to be in a relationship. Suddenly one of the girls find out she's pregnant and the two girls think it's a miracle. The pregnant woman gives birth and waits to find out she has a beautiful baby boy.

I didn't really enjoy doing this video personally. Although it was a laugh. I  think that if we all pulled together and stopped our laughing and made it more realistic then it could have been a LOT better :).

Advert- mouthwash.

I liked doing this advert for mouthwash, It was fun. It took a few shots to get it right though!!! The only thing i would have changed was maybe making it a little shorter. We edited it in premiere and done split screen in which i thought looked cool and i might use split screen in some other work when i get the chance:).

Fairy tale- Goldilocks.

For my fairy tale, my plan was to use voodoo dolls. My plan changed into using Plasticine, card, paper, paints, pencils and pens. The story was that Goldie was lost in the woods and she suddenly found a mysterious cabin. She was so hungry so she decided to go in and see if there were any food available for her. She walked into the kitchen and seen a big bowl on the wooden table. she reached up for it and she realized the bowl was full of human brains. She quickly ran outside, it was thundering and lightening and raining. Suddenly the 3 flesh eating cannibals  appeared before her eyes. She was so scared and has no where to run. She covered her eyes and every time she moved her hands from her watering eyes, the flesh eaters got closer and closer. As they got extremely close she suddenly awakened in her bed. She realized it was all just a nightmare. She lay down and closed her eyes and dozed back off. A dream? NO! It was not a dream. The flesh eaters were stood by her little bed. After that Goldie vanished. Nobody knows where she went or what happened. It is all mysterious and nobody speaks of that terrible story. To be continued...

I liked  doing the animation for Goldie. I think the only think i could have changed was slowing down the video in some parts because it was a little too fast. I lost some of my work, so i done a back up plan and that was to use text instead of the images.

Out take- the journey. Mess up. Warning, some swearing.

The journey.

For the journey, I done the planning and directing. This is my personal favorite because i really enjoyed doing it and I got into it and the outcome was great!
This video shows a young girl tied up that got kidnapped, she was locked up in a small storage room. She banged on the doors as hard as she could and she tried to escape. In the end, she managed to escape. As she got out, she seen some freeky looking manicans so she got more scared and ran away. She ran down the stairs and as she goes to run out of the exit, a woman tries to stop her so the young girl fights her off and escapes, as she goes through the exit, another woman who organised her kidnapping gets her and beats her up.

Making this video was GREAT!!!!!!

My greatest character. final idea.

In my final piece im going to be using some voodoo dolls with some little bits/props to go with it. It is going to be based on the fairy tale ' Goldie locks and the three bears'. My favourite bit about my final piece will be the voodoo dolls. I think voodoo dolls are so cool! My final idea is going to be three voodoo dolls that go into the woods into their cabin and find a young girl eating their food (which i might use some human body parts as they're evil voodoo dolls) and the voodoo dolls chase the young girl away as they try to kill her and they try to steal her body parts and they're trying to eat them as she ate all the guts they were saving for tea, but she doesnt know that they're guts, she thinks they're sweets. (might use some sweety laces to put in a small plate that i might use, and class the laces as intestines of something). I'm excited to get cracking with my final piece. I think it's going to be creepy but really good at the same time.

Greatest character.

'giggity giggity giggity giggity!'

Glen Quagmire out of the Animated show 'Family Guy'
The voice of Quagmire is done by Seth MacFarlane.

Why he is my favourite: He is my favourite character because i think he's absolutely hilarious! He's always making me laugh with his funny quotes. I love him because he is most known for his hyper-sexuality. He always shouts 'Giggity' when he's sexual situations. He usually get's himself into situations that are difficult to get out of. Nearly every part of Quagmire's house has a discreetly hidden bed. He also has a foot fetish, i think it's so funny!

Finest hour: Quagmire sees a cheerleader tied up in a bathroom stall''''''-Quagmire: Dear diary: Jackpot''''''.

photographers.

In college with Lucy we were looking at different images created by different photographers. We were writing down when we thought the image was taken and what did we think about it. My favourite image that we looked at was created my Sandy Mann and it shows a young girl smoking a candy fag. I really like this photograph because it's very interesting and there's a lot of emotions that project through the image to the viewer. The title of the photograph is called 'candy cigarette'.

comparing media.

In college me and katherine were working together. We were comparing different types of media. I wrote about magazines and Katherine compared it to writing about radio's.  We wrote the positives and negatives about the media we chosen and we compared it.

Once upon a time...

Three fairy tales- ideas for final piece with Cam.
1. little red riding hood 1997.
content- A little girl who goes through the wood to go and see her grandma but a vicious wolf see's her and he sneaks in her grandmas bed and pretends to be her.
Director and writer- David Kaplan (film)
Different media- film, book, children's television programme, theatre.
Where was information found? On the internet.

2. snow white and the 7 dwarfs.
content- a jealous queen feeds snow white an apple in which has been poisoned but prince charming comes along, kisses snow white and she awakens.
Directors- William Cottrell and David Hand. (film)
Different media- film, book, children's television programme, animation, theatre.
where did i find the information? internet.

3. Rapunzel disney 2010.
content- The princess was born with long, blond, magical hair. The vain old woman locked the princess in a tower so that she could steal some of the princesses hair to make her look young and 'beautiful'.
director- Wendy Harris (theatre)
different media- film, animation, children's television programme, children's book.
where did i find the information? internet.

for my final piece i might use vu-doo dolls but class them as the three bears from goldie locks, or i might do something like peter pan, not too sure yet, but once i make my mind up i'll update my blog:)!

Pixilation animation.

Here is a video that i used doing pixilation animation. This video is about young love and a young couple walking up the street and talking and suddenly falling inlove. For this video i used my college friends Scott Ross and Katherine Wilkox. They done a great job:D.

Thursday, 4 October 2012

Jan Kounen Gisele Kerosen CRITIQUE.

In this video i love the use of colours and the location. In my opinion i think the duration of the video makes it a little bit boring towards the end. I love the way how they're flying and there's some humour involved. Where one of the men aim to fire and another man whilst they're fling on broom sticks. The thing i'd change is the duration of the film and for the beginning to start a little bit quicker than what it did.

PIXILATION ANIMATION.

Neighbors- Norman Mclaren CRITIQUE.

I think the video for Neighbors was amazing. I think it's really funny and humorous how the two men fight over the flower that had just grown. I disliked the part where they beat up each others wives and children. I think the video would have been a lot better without that scene. Apart from that i think it was really funny and i really enjoyed it!:).

PIXILATION ANIMATION.

Her Morning Elegance / Oren Lavie CRITIQUE.

I think this video on youtube is absolutely fabulous. My favourite bit is where the man is twirling the girl around. It's very interesting to watch and i could sit here and watch it all day. It is noticeable that it must have took a long time and a lot of effort must have been put into it along with patience. If that was my video, the only think i's change is maybe zooming in a little bit so that not so much of the bedroom floor was showing, but apart from that i thought it was a genius idea.

PIXILATION ANIMATION.

mind map- for final piece.

Here is my mind map planning for my final piece. I put my location, ideas (in which changed and i progressed), what i had used, the music i used, it was black and white, and what the story was all about.

Flip book Evaluation.

I made a flip book by getting a small book and drawing my images step by step. At first i planned it out on a mind map. I made an exploding firework with some swirls coming out of it as it exploded. I made it because i like fireworks, i think they're pretty. I hand drawn the images in the flip book with a fine liner. The disadvantage of using a fine liner was not being able to erase the mistakes that i had made. I used a flip book with card paper inside of it. The thing that went wrong was not drawing it EXACTLY the same as the image before hand but i over came it by adding a little extra detail to even it out a bit more. I learnt that i am pretty good at making a flip book and it's quite enjoyable. I didn't think i'd be able to make it look good but in the end it turned out well. I am happy with my final product. If i could change anything then i would add some colour and make it more interesting and maybe do smaller steps. Overall i enjoyed the experience and i am happy with my final result.

South park critique.

South park is one of my favourite animated TV shows. I absolutely love it because it is hilarious and it never fail to make me laugh. Although, sometimes it does go over the top with the language. South park is an American animation show. It was created but Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The show is very popular and a famous show due to humour and language. The show revolves around four young boys called; Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman and Kenny McCormick. South Park debuted in August 1997 with great success. The pilot episode was produced using cutout animation. All subsequent episodes are created with software  that emulates the cutout technique. Parker and Stone perform most of the voice acting. Since 2000, each episode is typically written and produced during the week preceding its broadcast, with Parker serving as the primary writer and director.

In June 1999, South park: bigger, longer and uncut was released. It became box office and critical success. The animation is inspired by the paper cut-out cartoons by Terry Gilliam and Monty Python's flying circus and Parker and Stone are life long fans. Their movements are animated in an intentionally jerky fashion, as they are purposely not offered the same free range of motion associated with hand-drawn characters. The animation is so much better with the software that is now being used.

I think that people that have not yet seen South park, will like it for the humour and language, In my opinion i think it's really enjoyable and almost everyone i know loves it!

Young love- pixilation.

In college we were doing pixilation where we take pictures and make the human body do things that are impossible to do in real life. My pixilation video was about a boy and a girl walking together and then they stop, they start talking, then they walk over to the path and they kiss. They're really happy together and it's kind of like a chick flick. I did not put enough time into it and the clip was really short. To change it i would have made it longer, and i would have made the human body do something that is impossible to do in real life. I was just running behind on my work and I had 30 minutes to get it done and finished. I think it would have been great if I done it properly but apart from that, it told a really excellent love story and i am happy with it:).

Evaluation-Final piece.

For my final piece i used a King and Queen from a pack of cards. I used black card, paper, pen/ink, plasticine, a plastic dollar sign, camera and flash and i drawn my own buildings in it (pub etc..). My final piece was really good because it was humorous and it made people laugh. If i could have changed something i would have used a tripod and i would of slowed things down so that the viewers could read the text that i have added to it. Apart from that i am very happy with my final piece but next time it would be a lot better when i put more effort into it:).

RECREATING IMAGES.

In college today we done some research about a few documentary photographers. We wrote about them in our sketch books. As the day went on we found some of the artist work and we recreated them. Here's the images that i recreated.

FINAL PIECE. STOP MOTION.

In college today i have finished my final piece. It's about a king and queen, the king is walking up to the pub when he see's his wife - the queen and she tells him she won a lot of money so they both get over excited and they put the money into the bank to keep it safe and then they go partying and then finally pass out on the dance floor and sleep! It is black and white and i have had a lot of fun with creating this.

beads.

In college we had all different types of beads. They're all different shapes and sizes. What we had to do was create some work where we put a few beads down, taken a picture, and putting more beads down etc.. E.g, if we created a firework it would be the inside done with beads, then the middle bit, maybe a different colour and finally the outside. We take pictures bit by bit as we go alone so that when we work on Premier software, the pictures look like a little movie. This is called 'stop motion'. I found it very fun and it was my favourite thing to do:).

Nobody Beats The drum.

Critique on the You tube video 'Nobody Beats The Drum'.

In college today we got shown a video clip on you tube. I thought the clip was fantastic! Here's my critique.
The people that made the video are called 'Nobody beats the drum'.
The video had lots of different sized cubes and blocks moving to the speed of the music that was playing.  The colours in the video clip were really bright and very eye catching. It got me in a chilled out mood where my concentration was set into the clip.
The soundtrack is called Grindin'. I thought the editing was absolutely great. You can tell that the video must have took a long time to create. It has definitely had effort put into it! I still think that it would be best to see 'Nobody beats the drum' live. I think it would be excellent.
The technique of the video if brilliant. It is unique but I like it. There's a lot of fast movement and i like the way it has all been put together and played. It is very interesting to me. The movement in the video clip was very quick. It's very enjoyable.

Portraits.

This video shows my drawings that i had drawn bit by bit by the two artist i mentioned in a previous post.

In college today.

Above is a portrait from the artist Lucian Freud. The class went to go and find some portraits from any artist. We took pictures of the portraits and then we drew them in different sized circles on a long piece of wallpaper. We used a sharpened end of a paint brush and we dipped that in some indian ink. For my portraits I chose the artists Lucian Freud and James Tissot. Their art are very interesting to me and I enjoyed drawing their art. Below is a portrait from the artist James Tissot.

ID CARD.

In college we took around about 8 to 10 pictures of ourselves. We put all of the pictures together to make a small video clip in which goes really fast. We edited the pictures in Adobe Premier to make the images go fast into a short video clip. The whole experience of today has been amazing. I have had lots of fun!:)

Today.

In college we done some research on some artist and the artist i chose was Edvard Munch. His paintings are very famous. My favourite on of his, is 'The scream' painting. I also found some interesting stories about him. The scream painting was done because Edvard was walking down the road with two friends and then all of a sudden the sky turned as red as blood and he heard a scream of nature. He was born December 12th 1863 in Norway, Luton. Son of army med corps doctor Christian Munch. Edvard has worked with Christian Krohg, Frits Thaulow identified with a group called Christiania-Boheme. Edvard worked three weeks in Paris and the rest of the summer in Borne and returned to Oslo to begin three of his major works. Munch's most famous creation is The scream.  He done modern paintings with pastels. He was a world wide inspiration. I chose this artist because I am very interested in his style of art. My favourite has to be the scream.

Alexander McQueen!

In college we were put into groups. We found a fashion designer called Alexander McQueen. His real name is Lee Alexander McQueen. He was born in London on March 17th 1969. People like Lady Gaga are huge fans of his interesting fashion! After 10 years he was the most respected person in the world in the fashion industry! In my group at college we done some research and found some interesting facts and we chose an image of a shoe in which McQueen had designed. We drawn the shoe and we began to paint it. The after picture shall be in a different post. Coming soon!:)
