What gets up your nose?

For my ‘what gets up your nose’ picture I am going to take pictures of traffic.  What I am going to do is take lots of pictures of traffic, then I am going to choose the best picture, I am going to edit it and use that picture.  It gets up my nose when there is loads of traffic when I am in a rush to be somewhere and the lights take ages to change and the traffic is never ending! That’s why I will be taking pictures of traffic because it really gets up my nose. For these images i will be using a nikon l310 camera and i MIGHT use my phone camera which is HD on a samsung galaxy s4 which is the best phone up to date and has the best camera quality.

At some stations, presenters interact with the public off-camera, assisting with fundraising and selling advertising.

Job roles.

Fashion designer.
Victoria Beckham.

Victoria Beckham works closely within the design team at Land Rover.

The responsibilities of being a fashion designer

Creating sketches of design ideas is how a lot of fashion designers begin the creation of their garments. It is at this stage a fashion designer puts their visions into a more tangible format. Experimenting with color combinations and complementary garments and accessories first takes place at this stage. Then, the fashion designer needs to find the right materials to bring her sketches to life. Sewing samples, test garments and eventually the final piece are all part of a fashion designer's duties.
A fashion designer who is more established in the industry is likely to have staff assisting with his duties. This can mean the duty of a fashion designer extends to supervising staff whose role is to sew garments or make patterns. Managing staff means a fashion designer's duties are divided between creating his line and managing people. A fashion designer works hard to create a brand that consumers can recognize. For this reason, marketing the brand or label is just as important as creating it. Some designers may choose to market themselves while others may employ the services of a marketing or advertising agency.

Generally, fashion designers evaluate and anticipate industry trends, define themes for apparel collections, including the selection of fabrics and accessories, compose conceptual sketches for clothing items, use specialized computer programs to create the patterns and construction plans that will guide production of each apparel item, and assist in marketing their designs to apparel retailers and the ultimate consumers.

Their salary
Salaries also vary widely from designer to designer depending on level of education, experience and skills.According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the lowest 10 percent of full-time fashion design salaries, which includes the salaries of starting designers, averaged less than $32,500 annually as of May 2010, while the upper 10 percent earned more than $130,890 per year, and the median salary was $64,530 per year.

Fmp poster.

Here is a poster I made using photoshop. This is a poster advertising my final major project and showing that it will be on during the summer show at Plymouth college of art 2013. I really like this poster I made and the reason for that is because it is bright and colourful and looks very eye catching. It also has some sneaky pictures that have actually been used in my final major project giving a couple of examples of what the slideshow contains!

Here are some poster examples. I will be creating my own poster to publicise my final major project!

I like these posters because they are each different and each advertising different
things. They advertise form being safe and some sort of film/play that is being
advertised in another and getting your voice back in another. These posters are
pretty cool. I like the cross in a safe place one the most because it's about peoples safety!

Artist Statement

Shannon Mitchell, Originally from Manchester, Living in Plymouth and 17 years old.
Shannon is a Plymouth college of Art student. She is currently studying Creative Media Level 2 at college. She really enjoys the course she is on and she loves everyone on her course. According to Shannon, everyone is just so lovely and kind! Shannon loves doing photography and filming. Her favourite projects that she has currently had on her course is her final piece called 'fashion over the years' and she really enjoyed doing her documentary on the 'pressure to be perfect'. Shannon is very impressed with these two pieces of work and she is happy with the way they have turned out.

Shannon doesn't quit easily and she is very motivated on her course that she is currently on at the moment!

Shannon has produced a wonderful final piece. What she done was she took lots of different pictures, edited them and put them all into a slideshow using Premier. Putting the photo's into a slideshow really shows off Shannon's film skills AND photography skills. Shannon came up with her final piece idea herself and she thought of putting her film skills with her photography skills and that was a really good idea!

Shannon is going onto a Tv and film course level 3 in Plymouth college of art. In the future,  Shannon hopes to get into university and study more into taking fashionable pictures and filming and editing things all together and making them look professional.

Artists statement example!

I spent my elementary school years in rural Ohio, in a big pile of animal parts. My best friend’s dad had a VCR with only three VHS tapes, one of which was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It was my favorite, and not just because the fictional events took place on the day I was born. There’s a scene in it where one of the nubile victims stumbles into a room strewn with bones—mostly animal—at once terrifying and rustic in the yellow Texas sun. Not to be outdone, my friend and I discovered a boneyard ourselves while roaming a nearby farm, harvesting a few cow skulls that we cleaned with bleach. There was also this fur dealer who lived in a hovel, just past the creek. In our only encounter, I watched this man enthusiastically carve out the heart of a fox and hand it to me. (I had asked for the organ to use in a third-grade science project.) But even that experience didn’t prepare me to find a severed blue eye staring back at me from the mailbox. Lowering the door of the box, I found the milky, apple-sized sphere suspended in a jar of formaldehyde. Turns out this horse eyeball was a gift from our veterinarian, who had already noticed my peculiar predilection. Pressing my memory for other seminal experiences involving animal entrails, I come up empty. But I do remember my friend telling me that his dad had a fourth videotape. Adult cartoons.

Above is an artist statement example by someone called Alfred Steiner but posted by Sarah Schmerler. I am going to write a statement in third person about myself.

Final major project final piece- done.

poster about me

FMP EVALUATION!

For my final major project I had a choice on weather to do photography or a film but it had to be based around time and/or space. I decided I would do loads of pictures, and put them into a slideshow using premier. This shows off my photo skills AND my film skills. I had to individually change the picture sizes as they were not the right size for premier. I edited the speed of the pictures and I set it to less than a second when each picture flicks by.

What I done for my FMP is I took a series of pictures of different types of clothes such as 60's clothes, 80's clothes and a small amount of 2013's clothes. For this I used my mum, two sisters and one picture of my friends Kat. What I done was when I took one picture I would edit that same picture into lots of different edits. For the editing I used a little bit of photoshop, and websites called lunapic.com and picmonkey.com. These are really good editing sites and really easy to use! After I edited lots and lots of pictures, I put them all together in premier and made them in to a really awesome slideshow! I used a song called Gentlemen by someone called PSY. The song really goes well with the way I have edited and put the slideshow together! I am inspired by the 60's and 80's fashion and I love how they are so different compared to each other and that is why I used those fashions, and it bases around times because it is different decades and styles of clothing.

My original aim turned out exactly the way I planned it to be. I spent over £200 on things to buy for my FMP and I am very proud of the outcome. I planned to buy the correct outfits and accessories for my FMP and my plan was to take loads of pictures and edit them one by one and do several edits of the same picture (but do this for all pictures). It took a long time, but my hard work has paid off and I am happy with the outcome.

The only thing that changed about my plan was not going out to the beach or a field to take some pictures as I find it hard to walk far, and the weather wasn't so great either so I gave that a miss. I took pictures in my front and back garden and some pictures in my house. I think the location of where I took the pictures hasn't affected anything as I think it makes it look better and more older in some ways so I am happy that my plan didn't go EXACTLY to plan as it turned out better than I thought it would. The only thing that went wrong was my camera breaking so for this project I used a Nikon L310, a Nikon D40 and a Lumix cheap camera (which didn't make the pictures look good so I didn't use them in my FMP as the quality was really bad). Also, someone fell down the stairs whilst wearing really high healed shoes so we didn't pay much attention to the safety and we really should have! The editing went really well and getting all the pictures went really well. I am over the moon with my final piece, I am very happy with it.

The journey into producing my final piece was amazing because it meant spending quality time with my mum and sisters. There was also some laughs when some pictures went wrong and I have had a good time. The journey was also stressful at times because sometimes the computer would crash whilst I was half was through editing so I had to start some edits again as they did not save. The computer I had was running really slow as well and I felt like I didn't have the patience for it but in the end I managed and I took my time and everything turned out amazing!

If I was to do my project again I would improve it by getting MORE clothing for more decades and do a lot more pictures and put them into a slideshow. I would also find decent places to make the pictures look more professional and I would use a lot more people to model and not just use the same people. I would also start shooting my pictures a lot sooner than I started my final piece pictures as I felt like I didn't have much time and I worried that I wasn't going to get my final piece done in time and the stress wasn't good so I would plan it out a lot more specific and start my work a lot sooner. I would also organise for at least 3-4 more people to be models for my final piece as it kinda looks plain with just the same people, but I am still in love with my final piece. I would display my work in an art gallery/museum and in the college summer art show 2013 at plymouth college of art. I would also display my work in news papers and magazines. I could also show it in a fashion magazine such as vouge magazine.

I am most proud that I managed to get it all finished and edited on time. I am proud that I saved the right money to get what I needed and I am proud that I never gave up. So many times I felt like I should have gave up because things kept failing (editing pictures not saving) but I never gave up, I was patient and I tried again and It all turned out wonderful. I love the slideshow and I am proud of all of it. I am proud of all the different edits and and proud of the way I put it all together in a slide show by using premier.

I am really happy with the picture above. I feel like this is one of the best pictures. The strengths are i think the colour makes it stand out and makes it look more 80's and the way it has been edited makes the picture really 'pop'. I am proud of this picture. The model is the key focus by being in the centre of the image. I zoomed in because i didn't want certain elements of the background to be shown in the picture. The model was on muddy floor and the background was a bit of a mess and i didn't want that to be shown in the image. The contrast in this picture really works well and makes the colour stand out more. What i done on this picture was go onto an editing website called lunapic.com. I added a cartoon effect to make it look more punk-ish and i think it really does well.
I am proud of the picture above. Again, i positioned the model to be in the middle of the image to be the focus point. I cropped the image a little to get rid of certain elements in the background. I really like the effect on this image because i think it makes it look more old and vintage looking and i think that really works well with the decade the image is based on. (60's). The brightness and contrast was changed to make the picture look a little darker and not as modern and up to date as it is supposed to be set in the 60's. I think the way i have positioned the model it really makes her stand out in the photo. What i done for this image was go onto a site called lunapic.com. I made the image look darker and added more shadowy effects and reduced the highlight effect. I made the image dark, black and white and added a old film effect. I put the contrast lower so that it was a bit more darker and shadowy. A little film grain was also added, but not much.
The reason why i am proud of the image above is because the settings on the camera weren't right and the image came out way too exposed. I like it because it is supposed to be set in the 60's but the bad-ish quality really makes the image work and look like it was taken in an older decade. I added lots of film grain to make it look more old and i added a tint of a yellowy-brown colour to make it a bit more older looking. Once again the model is positioned in the middle of the picture and she really stands out. Although there is a bit of colour in the background, the model shines through and the viewer is more focused on the model. I zoomed in a little on this image as I didn't want soo much railings to be shown. what i done with this image was i went onto a picture editing site called picmonkey.com and I added a lot of film grain and added a yellowy-brown tint to make it look a bit sepia-like but not fully filled like a sepia effect as i wanted there to still be slight colouring in the image.
I love the image above. My FMP was also based on 60's hair styles too and i really think the models hair style is very old fashioned and really goes well in my work. The model is the focus point by being positioned in the middle. I wanted there to be a plain white background and nothing more to make the picture look more professional. I put the model in front of a white wall. I didn't zoom or crop anything in this photograph. I changed the brightness, contrast and colour to make it 'pop' more and this is one of my favourite images ever. For this picture i went onto photoshop and i played around with all of the editing settings. what i done was change the brightness so that it wasn't so bright, i changed the colour to black and white (monochrome) and added a slight shadowy boarder to make the image stand out more.

presentation feedback and evaluation

Presented infront of Katherine Wilcox and Cam.
Katherine. This is what Katherine thought if my live presentation. 5 being the best.
Stage presence - 5
planning and preparation - 5
voice control - 3
interesting content and performance - 5
professionalism and valid content - 4
knowledge of product - 4
sale ability - 5
Over all Katherine thought my presentation was very good. She said i knew what i was doing and my planning was great. She said because i shown that i believed in my final product, it made her believe in it too! She said i was very confident, i had a great content of research, i was professional, confident with my product, knowledge was good but needed to know more about the content, she would buy and fund my product due to a great presentation and good use of research, i was i little fidgety and my speech was a little quiet and when i turned my head it was hard to hear me so i need to work on talking a little louder and need to make more eye contact, she thought i seemed unsure weather to talk loud or not.

Cam. This is what Cam thought of my live presentation. 5 being the best.
Stage presence - 4
planning and preparation - 5
voice control - 3
interesting content and performance - 5
professionalism and valid content - 5
knowledge of product - 4
sale ability - 4
Over all Cam thought i done well during my presentation. Because i wanted to stand up whilst i was presenting, she was very impressed as she says some people find it hard to stand and some people would rather sit. She says that i was being very professional, i had good planning evidence with a thorough production diary, i had good language and terminology was well used, she also agreed with Katherine and said i was a little quiet but not TOO quite that she couldn't hear, but i could have been a little louder at times, she says a little more thorough research could have been approached like older photographers and their styles in the 60's and 80's. Over all Cam thought i done well and was impressed with my presentation.

I think i done well during my presentation, and i am proud that i chose to stand up because that's a big thing for me as i am quite a shy person. I am not very loud and i never usually talk loud and thats why i was being a little quiet but i agree that i should work on my speech and work on being louder so that people don't struggle to hear me! I felt like i stuttered a little bit and i agree with Katherine, i did seem unsure but that was because i was nervous and i went blank for a few seconds. Over all i think i done well in my interview and i am happy with my feedback and i agree with what has been said and with a little bit of work i could definitely work on getting my voice a bit louder.

Here are some examples of MY existing work. This is more about the photography and editing and looking at SOME of the styles and fashion and the way the images have been taken. Some of these pictures may be used in my final major project.
