Growing up poor!
Growing up poor is a documentary i came across on BBC3. It was about young people living off less than £10 a day.
Filmed over one summer, this documentary follows three very different teenage girls dealing with the pressures of growing up with one similarity - they are all surviving on under a tenner a day.
For Bridie, her hopes of joining the army hinge on her staying out of trouble with the police, but the trouble is always there and it's hard for her to stay out of trouble when things around her are always kicking off..
Amber is 16 and pregnant. She's fortunate that her mum is there to support her, but scraping money together for all that she needs is a task, not to mention she needs to buy things for when the baby arrives. .
Like so many British teenagers affected by the recession Shelby was on jobseeker's allowance, but she's determined to find a job. Currently completing a work placement, she really hopes it will turn into a real job.
Each of the girls lets us into their world and we witness them trying to make their dreams come true. But for some, dreams are just dreams.
This documentary is there to show how hard life can be and just how lucky some people are when they can afford to put food on the table and others can't. This documentary is aimed at everyone to show some life difficulties and how it could be prevented. I thought the documentary was useful because it will definitely help people see a different view of their lives instead of always thinking they have it hard when some people have life worse!

UN-EDITED DOCUMENTARY.
My documentary plan/treatment.
For my documentary i am going to base it on the 'pressure to be perfect' and how people feel when they see skinny people in magazines and weather they feel the need to want to be skinny and if they feel pressured by societies view on perfection. I am going to get peoples opinions on all of the images and if they know anyone suffering from any eating disorders or illnesses or if they know anyone that has been through it. The questions i am going to be asking in my documentary are going to be:
Q1. Do you feel the pressure to be perfect when you see thin people in magazines?
Q2. Does seeing thin people in magazines make you want to lose weight?
Q3. What is your view on magazines and young people of today being diagnosed with eating disorders?
Q4. Do you think images in magazines are a main cause of people wanting to be 'perfect' and thin?
Q5. Do you think thin celebs also have an affect on people when they are shown in magazines as thin? Do you think people want to be like their favourite celebs? E.g. Nicole Richie.
Q6. Do you know anyone that has been affected by the pressure to be perfect or do you know anyone who is currently being affected at this moment in time? If so, how does that make you feel?
Q7. Do you have anything to say to all the people that that want to be thin like people in the magazines? Do you have any advice for them? (LOVE IS LOUDER THAN THE PRESSURE TO BE PERFECT)
The reason why i wanted to do my documentary on magazines and the pressure to be perfect is because i have seen people go through it and people currently going through it and i also feel pressure by societies view on perfection to be perfect. When all you see is thin people and rarely any bigger people, i assume that it is what people like and that no one likes plus size people, and i lost 2 stone a few months ago after leaving school and i lost it quick and i am interested if anyone else has been affected by it. But being skinny is not what most people like, people don't like BONES. But i feel like magazines have a massive affect on people feeling the need to be skinny and i am interested on how people feel about all of the magazines and stuff.

By Nigel Barker- Photography.
This image is a posed image. I thought this image was interesting because i have an idea of what the story is about. I think that it's set in the 60's as the style looks kind of old. In my head i think the man in the image is a thug back in the day and i think that he went in a rich mans hotel, started shooting at that womans husband to be and then they both are running off but it looks like she's stopped in shock because maybe the police turned up, and i think it's black and white to make it look more dramatic.
By Sally Mann- Photography.
I think that the girl in the photograph is looking at herself in a reflection from a small river or something, I think she could be looking at herself because she might not be happy with the way she looks so she might be looking at what to change about her appearance. I think that the image is slightly depressing when i look at it, it seems like it is full of sorrow and sadness, the black and white makes it more of what i'm thinking the image is about because if it was in colour im not sure what my opinion, thoughts and view would be on it, and the position of her head says that she's not very happy and i think she's not happy with herself.
The girl in the image, although you cannot see her face, she seems young so she might have been looking at 'prettier' people who are 'perfect' and maybe she felt the pressure to be that way and that's why i think the image is about her not being happy about the way she looks. And the fact she is really boney and skinny makes it look like she has an eating disorder or something but maybe she doesn't see that she's thin, she might just think she is fat all the time! The girl in the image is alone, and lonely and it looks as if she's in a forrest. It looks like a sad depressing place to be in, and it doesn't seem like anyone would go there to be happy, it seems like people would go there if they we're really depressed. So the girl is lonely and maybe she has an eating problem and maybe she doesn't like people being around to see her body the way she sees it. The forrest/ woods is also foggy and all and it looks really gloomy and dull!!

SUPERSIZE ME!
Supersize me is A documentary on a man who attempts eating nothing but fat foods, take out foods for a month (McDonal's). Within that month he has to have ordered EVERYTHING on the meal and supersize his meals! He does it to show the dangers and on almost every street, on every corner, on every avenue, there's a McDonald's. Walking past it could even tempt you to get some! The point of it was to show that dangers of that fatty foods and the damage it can cause if too much of it is being ate. He had to talk to doctors to see if it would be okay for him to try it out and they agreed, none of them knew how ill and how dangerous it would have got for him. In the end he got advised to STOP but he never did... He carried on eating it. One of the problems he got with fatty foods was the depression and as soon as he ate the fatty food his mood was lifted, so he was comfort eating and that's what can cause obesety. Supersize me is aimed at EVERYONE. Young people, old people, children, teens, EVERYONE. Questions were being asked to the children and they got shown pictures of people. Jesus was unknown to the children but Ronnald McDonald was fully known. People have been brain washed.
Louis Theroux
LOUIS THEROUX- I
think, the point on his documentary (wrestling) was to change peoples opinions
on things and show people that wrestling isn’t all fake and people do actually
get injured and hurt, sometimes to the point where stitches are needed. The documentary was about people wrestling
and fighting and looking into how hard people (wrestlers) train and how much
effort they put into it to get to the point where they are now and to show that
it’s not easy to get to their point in wrestling. The documentary was made of
questions being asked, a camera crew following Louis around and recording
everything that happens, but Louis didn’t have any research when it came to
asking questions, he just went straight in there and asked. The documentary is
aimed at people that have a different view on wrestling thinking that its all
fake and it’s aimed at mature adults of 18 and over, for both men and
women. So the documentary was made to
show people that there’s other sides to things and the was people train and
fight isn’t all just an act and damage is made.
