The envelope treatment

The film is going to be filmed indoors, it’s going to be daytime and there’s going to be chairs.
Person X (Katherine) is going to be sat down on the chairs in the corridors in college on the 3rd floor, or could be sat up in the library (not decided yet). She fidgets and is nervous about something and has a bit of sweat dripping down her face (could sprinkle some water on her). Sean BURSTS into the scene and hands over the note, Katherine looks nervously at him. Sean holds his head down and slowly walks away, leaving Katherine there with this mysterious note wrapped up in an envelope… (The envelope could be made to look old and stained with tea bags). Katherine slowly opens up the envelope whilst shaking, not knowing what she is going to read. The contents of the note are NEVER revealed so that it leaves the viewer hanging off their seat and making them wants to watch on and see more.  I (Shannon) am going to film all of this and I am going to hold the camera under Katherine’s face and walk with her whilst she’s looking off in different directions looking panicked and confused! She then feels a bit sick and holds onto the walls trying not to fall and trying to stay balanced on her feet. She then falls to the ground whilst she is in tears of sadness. She leans against the wall whilst sitting and just stops to think and sort herself out. She exits the corridor and enters the toilet room. She walks intensely down the corridor when she is going to the toilet room. Katherine then realizes something and she stops for thought. She reaches into her pocket/bag and the envelope is not there! She worriedly searches all of her belongings and looking in her bag, pockets and pats her clothes down but she finds nothing. As she is worriedly searching for it, she panicky whispers ‘No… The letter… IT’S GONE! :o’ She quickly goes back into the corridor, to check if she dropped it where she fell. She finds a note in an envelope. This was not her note. It looked new and not old and stained with tea bags, but it had Katherine’s name written on it, just like the other envelope did… Someone else must have found the old note, and then left a note for Katherine to read. The note left behind said ‘’your secret is safe with me… FOR NOW!!!’’ Then Katherine just stairs and looks worried, but blank and the camera slowly zooms into her face as she is staring off into space.

Finished DVD cover and EVALUATION

Here is my finished DVD cover. What i done was take a picture that wasn't too smiley so that it fit in with the whole meaning of being brainwashed by the media and magazines and how it can affect people.  After i took the picture i edited it in photoshop, i used the quick selection tool so that i didn't get any of the background in the picture as i didn't want it there. I edited the picture by changing the colour levels and i added noise to it to make it a bit fuzzy-ish. After that i added a bit of text about eating and disorders - as you can see below. I added a little apple in the bottom corner as there's a quote saying 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away' and i thought that was interesting to use. I made this DVD cover based on my documentary on how people view things when they see skinny people in magazines and if it makes them want to go to the extremes to me skinny...
For this i used a Nikon camera, lighting, photoshop, and made the photo more interesting with editing it. There was a disadvantage when i cut the picture (quick selection tool) as i didn't know what tool to use to neaten  up the edges so i carefully used the rubber tool! The thing that went wrong was my idea altogether as i planned to do a whole background of text (as you can see in previous posts) and  i was going to put the picture in the middle of that, but i got the image size wrong and it didn't turn out the way i wanted it to turn out and it saved as a really small file unfortunately. I overcome that by doing this DVD cover by not adding as much text and made it look a bit more simple (and in some cases, less is more!) I learned how to use the quick selection tool a lot better and simpler. My biggest achievement would be how i started again a made a better cover than originally planned as my first idea.  I am very happy with the final product. I could improve by neatening up the edges with the correct tool on photoshop instead of using an eraser tool. Overall i think i done excellent planning as i put my time and thoughts into it, and came up with something different! The only thing i'd change is just using the correct tool next time as i am happy with my work today. Couldn't be happier, and instead of giving up when i failed, i started again and done a better job! Think i deserve a pat on the back to be honest...

DVD cover progression.

Here is my work so far that i have done on photoshop. Unfortunately I did not do the settings correctly so my work so far has been saved as a really small file so it is a tiny picture so i had to zoom in and do a screen shot in order to make it visible.. But hopefully i am able to sort that out ASAP! My plan is to put a picture in the middle of the writing.. The title is ' Life with an eating disorder' and it is based on people being brainwashed by magazines and how the bodies of thin people affect other people around the world and how people are targets for developing an eating disorder!

Job role.

The director of a single camera shoot will tend to be as close to the “action” as possible. This way they can direct the actor as needed throughout the duration of the shoot giving them actionable notes on their acting, blocking, dialogue or any number of things. The director is sometimes positioned near the camera watching the live action of the actor or huddled slightly off camera with other key crew members (writers, producers, executives, etc.) watching on a monitor that is plugged into the main camera. This way they can be sure that the cinematographer is getting the proper shot.

Those who had full time jobs directing movies, television shows, news programs and stage productions earned a median salary of $70,660 in 2011 (U.S.).

A Day in a Director's Life:

On a typical day a director's tasks might include:
  • Auditioning and casting a production, such as a movie or television show
  • Interviewing and hiring a crew which includes camera operators stage hands, film editors, costume designers, makeup artists, set designers and others
  • Collaborating with the producer, writers and crew
  • Giving instructions to the cast and other personnel
  • Directing live broadcasts, including news programs
  • Selecting scripts for television shows or movies, or choosing stories to be reported on news programs

DVD cover ideas.

For my DVD, I haven't decided what title Im going to choose yet but my idea is called:
Addicted to nothing!
OR
Brainwashed!
But i need to choose one. The DVD cover is based on my documentary on the magazines and the pressure it puts on people to be skinny.
For the caption (five words describing it) i have came up with a few ideas but my favorite one is :
Is Ana really your best-friend?
My other ideas are:

Magazines brainwash people of today.

Skin and bones or hips and curves?

The images- for the background i was thinking of making different shape/size/font text with loads of words bunched together referring to wanting to be skinny and the need to be skinny. In the middle of the picture im going to take a picture of a girl who is looking down, and is really sad and depressed and not being happy. My idea is to make it look a bit depressing, dull and dark.

Here is an idea a background that i will be making!

The words i am planning on using for the background are:

Skinny, thin, I <3 Ana, perfection, hate, control, not enough, FAT, depressed, pain, it hurts, rejected, secret, SHHHH, cold, scared, failure, starve, disappointment, MORE, hungry, thigh gap, she's thinner, must not STOP, Need to be skinny, mental, illness, addicted to nothing!

In the middle of my back ground will be my image of the sad girl looking sad, and down.
