1950's fashion

Fashion that was popular in the 1950's. brightly coloured clothes and accessories became fashionable in the 1950's and the bikini was developed. From the mid-1950's, a new unfitted style of clothing appeared as an alternative to the tight waist and full skirt. 1950's was the Chanel suit, with a braid-trimmed cardigan-style jacket and A-line skirt. By 1957, most suits featured lightly fitted jackets reaching just below the waist and shorter, narrower skirts. Hair was worn short and curled. Hats were essential for all but the mostly casual occasions. Hats became less popular and were worn less frequent when the beehive hairstyle became fashionable! The baby boom of the 1940's to the 1950's also caused focus on maternity wear.
